Our “Planet�� rating evaluates brands based on the environmental policies in their supply chains, from carbon emissions and wastewater to business models and product circularity. Here we rate Arc'teryx “It’s a Start��. These are a few factors influencing its score:

• It uses some lower-impact materials including recycled materials.
• It produces long-lasting products.
• There’s no evidence it takes action to minimise its packaging, which is a driver of plastic waste.
• It’s set a target to eliminate hazardous chemicals after 2025 but does not disclose whether it is on track.
• There’s no evidence it’s taking meaningful action to reduce water use.

• It provides a confidential complaints mechanism for workers in its supply chain to report harassment or violence.
• Its Code of Conduct covers ILO Four Fundamental Freedoms principles.
• It claims to have a program to improve wages but there’s no evidence it ensures its workers are paid living wages in most of its supply chain.

• It doesn’t appear to use fur, angora, exotic animal hair, or exotic animal skin.
